Seymour Duncan APH-2b Slash Alnico II Pro Humbucker Pickup, Reverse Zebra

When Slashwas given the honor of having a Gibson Les Paul Signature model built, we sentover the same Alnico 2 Pro humbuckers that he has used for decades. Turns out,the new guitars sounded noticeably different than the original. So, we acceptedthe challenge to make him a new pickup that would make all of his new signatureguitars sound just like the original AFD Les Paul. The result is the SlashSignature Model humbucker.

We used adifferent mag wire and winding spec that, when combined with the alnico 2 barmagnet, provided exactly what was needed to push a stock Les Paul toward that familiarsustain, crunch, and midrange that was so characteristic of the tone of Slash’soriginal Derrig Les Paul copy. The Slash humbuckers are hand built in SantaBarbara the same way we built his originals in the 80s, with a nickel silverbottom plate with long mounting legs, single conductor braided lead wire, maplespacer, paper tape, and wapotting.
